Hitchcock Represented

After yesterday's post on Annie Leibovitz's Disney photos, I stumbled across another spread I fell in love with.  The spread is a few years old, but it is amazing.  As you know I'm a huge fan of Vanity Fair Magazine, so of course I found amazing photos from there.  Annie Leibovitz was once again the photographer in a spread from February 2008.

The concept was to redo classic Hitchcock film posters by using today's actors.  They are so beautiful.  What do you think?

Charlize Theron in Dial M For Murder

Scarlett Johansson and Javier Bardem in Rear Window

Naomi Watts in Marnie

Keira Knightley and Jennifer Jason Leigh in Rebecca

Emile Hirsch and James McAvoy in Strangers On A Train

Renee Zellweger in Vertigo

Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey, Jr. in To Catch A Thief

Seth Rogen in North By Northwest

Marion Cotillard in Psycho

The Painted Veil

One of my favorite movies is "The Painted Veil." Although I love the original version starring Greta Garbo from 1934, I prefer the 1996 version with Naomi Watts and Edward Norton. The cinematography is amazing and the costumes are stunning. If you haven't seen either film, you must. Greta's performance in the original film didn't get wonderful reviews, and the 2006 was probably better described as a sleeper film, but the story line is great.

Both films are based on W. Somerset Maugham's 1925 novel of the same name. The film shows the relationship between a husband and wife who are having marital difficulties in the middle of a cholera epidemic. I don't want to spoil it, but there is much more to the story.

Here are some of my favorite pics of the 1996 version of the film with Naomi Watts and Edward Norton as husband and wife. Enjoy!
