Happy Halloween friends! I've been down all weekend with the stomach bug, so I just wanted to drop in tell you all to have a fun, safe night!

Has anyone been paying attention to how chic Kelly Osbourne looks lately? I can't believe how adorable she is! The before shots were a little, well, let me say it, horrendous, so here is how she is looking lately.

A Little Much...

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. First, I am a little disappointed with my blog. I have lost a couple of followers lately, and am not sure why. I have been posting a little more personal with the vintage posts. Maybe people don't care about my life? LOL. What do you think? Can you give me some suggestions about what you like/don't?

Next, NaNoWriMo starts a week from today! Yikes! I have to start brainstorming to get ideas about what to write my novel on. I feel so uncreative.



And, of course, I am in grading hell. I have so much to grade, input, lesson plan, etc. I love, love, love my job, but am feeling a little overwhelmed and might need a grading day.




Lastly, I am trying so hard to have a social life. I have been in a depression of some kind for the past 6 months and feel like I'm finally getting out! I am going out again, looking to date, and loving time with my girlfriends. At least there's something! Have a great Monday friends!

Lana Turner

I don't know why, but I've been thinking about Lana Turner lately. What a classic beauty! Lana was born in 1921 and died in 1995 (long life!). I'm sure you know about the controversy surrounding her and her lover (if you've read my blog before), but I loved her in The Postman Always Rings Twice. Here are some shots of Lana. Bowling for Charity

Last night was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I saw my favorite band, Carolina Liar in Hollywood. Pics to come tomorrow. In the meantime, I'm off to L.A. again tonight for a charity event for Pete Carroll's organization, A Better L.A. So excited! I should have pics tomorrow! Have a fabulous Friday night friends!

More News on the JFK Assassination

Wow did you hear this yesterday? More twists in the assassination of JFK...here is the article:

"Retired Secret Service agent Gerald Blaine has a book coming out -- "The Kennedy Detail" -- that contains a rather stunning revelation: In the chaotic wake of the power transfer that took place after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Blaine says he almost shot Lyndon Johnson, when he mistook him for an intruder inside Johnson's D.C. home.

In an excerpt from the book on the Huffington Post, Blaine describes standing watch at the Johnson home the night after the Kennedy assassination, and how he heard someone approaching him from behind. The book -- a broader insider account of the presidential security detail during the Kennedy-Johnson era that Blaine wrote with the assistance of journalist Lisa McCubbin -- describes the ensuing scene in the third person.

Instinctively Blaine picked up the Thompson submachine gun and activated the bolt on top. The unmistakable sound was similar to racking a shotgun. He firmly pushed the stock into his shoulder, ready to fire. He'd expected the footsteps to retreat with the loud sound of the gun activating, but they kept coming closer. Blaine's heart pounded, his finger firmly on the trigger. "Let me see your face, you bastard."

The next instant, there was a face to go with the footsteps. The new President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, had just rounded the corner, and Blaine had the gun pointed directly at the man's chest. In the blackness of the night, Johnson's face went completely white.
It's hard to surmise whether the night-after killing of Johnson would have laid to rest any of the Oliver Stone-style theories of the Kennedy assassination as a massive top-down government cover-up -- or only have caused them to spin more frenetically out of control. Happily, thanks to Blaine's self-restraint, we'll never have to know.

Meanwhile, Blaine also uses "The Kennedy Detail" to lay another bit of JFK-related intrigue to rest: The playboy 35th president never did have a romantic dalliance with Marilyn Monroe, the author insists. Blaine says that the film siren was only in the company of Kennedy twice, and that she left alone both times -- though he doesn't appear to say whether those meetings occurred in private, or if not, whether the two were able to adjourn to a more secluded setting at some point. We suppose we'll have to buy the book to get the full story"

I promise to get back to my film series tomorrow, but so much is happening lately! I can't believe how many fun things I have coming up! I think I am officially out of my funk and ready to have a great time again!

I am going to see my favorite band Carolina Liar next Thursday, then I am heading over to a bowling charity event at Lucky Strike in Los Angeles on Friday night. There will be celebrities there and I have no idea what to wear! Can someone help me? Where can I find some darling tops to wear with jeans and heels? HELP!

Marilyn's Poetry

I've been meaning to blog about Marilyn's new book of poetry, but have been absolutely swamped this week! So, taking a slight break from the film series, did you hear????

"NEW YORK — Musings about life, literature and other rarely seen writings by Marilyn Monroe will be published this fall.
Farrar, Straus & Giroux announced Tuesday that "Fragments" would come out in October. Editor Courtney Hodell said the book would include poems, photographs, reflections on third husband Arthur Miller and other men in Monroe's life, and references to works by Samuel Beckett, James Joyce and numerous other authors.

"I think the book will show that she was a really thoughtful person with a real interior life," Hodell said. "She was a great reader and someone with real writing flair. There are fragments of poetry that are really quite beautiful, lines that stop you in your tracks."

The book features a long essay about Monroe's first husband, James Dougherty; notes about acting and the roles she was working on; lists of resolutions and a letter to acting coach Lee Strasberg. Monroe wrote on everything from spiral bound notebooks to stationery from the Waldorf Astoria.

The writings date from 1943, when Monroe was a teenager, to near the end of her life. Monroe was found dead in her Los Angeles home in 1962 at age 36, her death ruled a probable suicide, although theories of murder have proliferated.
Hodell said there were passages by Monroe that "make her seem suicidal," but declined to say what years the passages were written. Hodell also declined to say whether Monroe referred to Joe DiMaggio, her second of three husbands, or President John F. Kennedy, with whom she was widely rumored to have had an affair. But Hodell did say that "there's stuff about all of her relationships here."

The book was commissioned by Anna Strasberg, who manages Monroe's estate and is Lee Strasberg's widow.

Monroe's writings are only the latest "Monroe-abilia" to come to light in recent months.
Earlier this month, a number of items tied to the iconic actress, singer and sex symbol went up for auction in Las Vegas. Those items included previously unreleased color photographs of the star on the set of the 1959 film "Some Like it Hot," her Chanel No. 5, her lingerie nightshirt, personal photos, bank statements, scripts, signed checks and the couch from her psychiatrist’s office.

In February, artist and photographer Len Steckler unveiled his never-seen-before photographs of Marilyn Monroe. Some of those photos captured candid moments with Monroe and the poet Carl Sandburg months before her death.
