Hippie Chic

Lately I seem to be a bit obsessed with the bohemian style.  With my recent Manson tour and my research into Laurel Canyon and 60's rock, the boho or hippie style is inspiring me in a big way.  The style presents us with light, airy fabrics, adorable headbands, and lots of fringe and suede.  What could be better?  Coachella is coming up and the boho style is everywhere at the festival.  Need some inspiration to get your hippie chic ready?  Take a look at the photos.  Will you incorporate any of the looks into your summer wardrobe?

Fabulous Feathers

Hope you all had a great weekend!  I'm sure you all heard the great news, that Osama Bin Laden has been killed.  It's about time!  What a wonderful way to end the weekend.

It was absolutely gorgeous in Southern California.  It was a great week to be on Spring Break.  I'm back to work today, and have been noticing that feathers are literally everywhere.  Since I teach high school, I've seen quite a few girls sporting feathers in their hair, on their headbands, accessories, and even clothing.

I had a feather in my hair for a while, but couldn't stand the extension and kind of got over it quickly.  But I'm loving all the feathers.  They definitely give fashion a bohemian feel and are perfect for the upcoming season.  What do you think about the trend?  Loving it, or over it?

4 More days until my novel is available online!  I can't wait to share it with you all.  The ebook can be purchased for $2.99 and can be viewed on Kindle, IPAD, email, any smartphone, etc.  The paperback version should be available Friday as well for $9.99 but I will have more info on that later.  Don't forget the cover is illustrated by Inlee Haynes!  So excited!  Have a great day friends!

Fashion Fridays Pirates Booty

I'm so in love with this look.  Check out the belt.

It's my favorite day of the week: Fashion Friday!  I've been on Spring Break this week and it seems that the blogs have been a little quiet.  I know everyone is excited about the Royal wedding and probably will be posting about it, but I chose a different route.

Nothing says pirate like a skull and cross bones necklace

With Pirates of the Caribbean coming out May 20, I'm a little obsessed with (as always) Johnny Depp, and the pirate style.  What exactly is pirate style, you ask?  Well, there are a lot of ruffles, leather, head scarves, skull-infused accessories, and of course long wavy hair and drastic eyeliner.  I'm really excited to see Penelope Cruz in this one.

Oh my Johhny

So, what do you think of the pirate inspired style?  Would you wear ruffles, big gold hoops, or maybe even a leather and lace corset top?

Loving the blouse

I'm dying for this clutch bag...look at the detail

Loving the whole outfit

So much fun!

Great dress from Anthropologie

Perfect accessories

Bringing Back BoHo

How many of you have a feather in your hair?  Not yet, well, just wait, you will.  I have had mine for about 2 weeks now, and am ready to take it out.  I love the look, but they're everywhere! It seems the hippie/bohemian fashion scene is back in a big way.  If you're not sure what that means, there are feathers, fringe, headbands of every kind, natural colors, textures, and fabrics, and of course lots of leathers and natural stones.

I love the BoHo look.  The natural, long, often-braided hair is one of my favorite parts about it. The other thing I like is the relaxed attitude that comes along with the fashion. The look began in the 1960's with free love, drugs, anti-government everything, and friendship.  It might be time to dig into your mom's closets and find those bell bottoms and vests.

I hope you're week is off to a good start.  I'm getting on the exercise train this week, so someone please hold me accountable?  Have a great day friends!

Piece of My Heart...

The bohemian style seems to be coming back lately, and I'm surprised I actually like it. Who better than Janis Joplin to demonstrate that style with her amazing voice and outgoing personality? Although I never thought of Janis as a true beauty, there was something about her that was overall lovable.

"The Rose" with Bette Midler was based on her life, and it's no secret she lived a fast life, filled with drugs. According to my friend, Scott's Find a Death site, "After recording on the evening of the 3rd, she and band member Ken Pearson had a couple of drinks at Barney's Beanery. Just after midnight, they drove back to the Landmark Hotel , at 7047 Franklin. Inside room 105, she shot up her last fix of heroin. She returned to the hotel lobby to get change for a five dollar bill, for cigarettes. She chatted casually with the hotel clerk, who later said she seemed perfectly natural (and he didn't know who she was). When she returned to her room, she collapsed beside the bed, almost breaking her nose. She was wedged against a bedside table, with a cigarette in her hand.

John Cook, one of her band members, became alarmed when she didn't show up for the recording session the next morning, and after unsuccessfully trying to reach her by telephone, he went to the hotel, broke down the door and found her dead. She was 27 years old."

Because of her death at the age of 27, she became part of the famous "27 Club," which includes other musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain.

Hope you had a great weekend friends!
