Keeping it Boho in a Kimono

Tomorrow is the first day of school...and I'm not thrilled lol.  It's so hard for us teachers to get back into the swing of things after having a 10-week vacation.  I will miss my relaxing days by the pool, vacationing and running around with mom, and of course sleeping in.  But, with the new year comes exciting changes, new kids, and of course routine, which I love.  Wish me luck for great kids and a fun first day!

I'm thinking tomorrow might be the perfect day to wear my new kimono.  What's a kimono, you ask?  Well, according to Wikipedia (not the best source lol), a kimono is: "a Japanese traditional garment worn by men, women, and children.  The word 'Kimono,' which literally means 'something to wear,' are T-shaped, straight-lined robes, worn so that the hem can fall to the ankles."  They are very traditional, but are of course being modified for American style.  Here are a few of my favorites right now.

Boho Belts

Earlier in the week, I shared ways to use a scarf on your handbag.  Another great way to incorporate your silky scarves into your wardrobe?  Use them as a boho belt.  Look how adorable they look, especially with a great pair of shorts.

She's Glowing

Drew Barrymore is one of my favorite celebs.  She seems so down to earth and sweet, like the kind of girl you would want to hang out with.  She's also come so far from her earlier partying days.  I had to miss Lucky Fabb this month, where she was one of the speakers.  She's on the cover of Lucky this month.  Look how adorable she looks--she's glowing don't you think?

Street Style: Coachella Weekend 1--2013

If you weren't lucky enough to attend Coachella this past weekend, maybe you'll get your chance for weekend two.  There are so many great bands at the festival, but it seems to be a bit more about the casual, California style.  Coachella kicks off the summer concert series here in So Cal, and the look once again appears to be a bit boho.  Loving Katy Perry's look for weekend 1.  She looks gorgeous. The Cord Challenge

Are you up for it?  What's the challenge you ask?  Wear corduroy and feel good about it.  Harsh?  I think not.  I am not a corduroy fan as you might be able to tell.  I can't get past the 1970's, bell bottom cords that my mom wore with her Hang Ten t-shirt.  I have to admit though, there are some cute ways to wear corduroy and these pics prove just that.

BoHo Braids

With music season comes braided hair.  Coachella, Stagecoach, etc...it's hot out, you want to look naturally pretty, even sweet, without losing your sex appeal.  How to do it?  A braid, or maybe a few.  My favorite braid has always been the fishtail.  Now that my hair's getting longer I might attempt it for summer.  I don't know if I can pull off the other styles though.  What about you?  Are braids in your daily look?
