Today is the last day of this guest series on vintage places. I have been so lucky to have my blogger friends contribute. I really appreciate it. Today's post comes from my friend Anastasia, better known as Lily Lemontree. Her blog is fabulous and definitely one of my favorites. You have to go check her out right away if you haven't already. Thank you so much sweetheart, for your fabulous post on Studio 54. Here goes:
"Being a child of the ‘70’s, I always feel a little nostalgic about anything that reminds me of my youth. Bellbottoms, ‘All in the Family’, lava lamps, the Bee Gees and Donna Summer, ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and of course anything disco. The mere mention of Studio 54 and I am a tween again, dreaming of dancing and twirling on a brightly lit dance floor. I have always regretted not making my way to Studio 54 in its heyday, a slightly large feat at the time for an underage girl living in Canada but a 50 cent weekly allowance can only take you so far, even in the ‘70’s!
The building that housed the famous disco was built in 1927 and was originally known as the San Carlo Opera House, its street address being 254 West 54th Street (wonder where they got the name from??).
Studio 54 officially opened its doors on April 26th, 1977, bringing to fruition the dreams of Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, who owned the club till November 1980 when they went to prison for tax evasion.
In 1986, the end of the disco era was all but complete and in turn, Studio 54 officially closed its doors forever that year.
Considered by most (and yours truly) as the biggest party that ever was, the club was overrun by celebs enjoying, imbibing and over-indulging everywhere you turned. Here are a few of my favorite images capturing the real essence of the uber-famous Studio 54!"

A very cool post and appropriate way to end the week. Nice pics too go along with your story Lily.
Totally, the absolute ultimate. And, everyone was so pretty & dressed up and feeling good...yeah, all was right with the world. Then, Atlas shrugged.
Thank you Lily Lemontree for suggesting it on your blog.
