Drop Dead Dita

I've seen Dita Von Teese a few times in person and have to say she is just as stunning as she is in the magazines.  She always has red lips and nails, jet black hair, and a great pair of sunnies on.  So, of course recent photos of her in Elle Magazine reflect that exact style, and she even shows us some of her favorite products.  I can't pull of red lips.  Can you?

The Eyes Have It

Nothing says summer like a new pair of sunnies.  I just got some at the Rose Bowl Flea Market a few weeks ago (vintage) and can't wait to wear them!  Take a look at these gorgeous finds from Interview Magazine.  Which ones are your favorites?

Dita's Travel Essentials

I'm not a huge fan of Dita Von Teese, but I know a lot of you are.  I love her style, and her classic beauty, I'm just not a fan of her career choice, but that's another conversation.  I've mentioned before that I saw her at the Rose Bowl swap meet once, and she is just as beautiful and stunning in person.

W Magazine asked her to share her travel essentials, since she's on the go so much.  I love what she shared.  Check it out.

"I use all Globe-Trotter suitcases; they look chic and classic.  Most of my burlesque costumes travel in Globe-Trotter cases that are color-matched to each outfit."--Dita Von Teese

"Marc Jacobs sent me this Louis Vuitton hatbox when I was performing at Vuitton parties in Paris and Las Vegas."--Dita Von Teese

"This diary is Smythson--I get all my journals and datebooks there.  I like to write about travels, and I find it very useful to look back on what I wrote to see where I was both geographically and emotionally.  I always keep it in a locked safe, because, as Mae West once said, 'Keep a diary, and someday it may keep you.'"--Dita Von Teese

"I write a lot of thank-you notes--and love letters when I have someone special in my life.  I adore very fine papers, which I have custom made for me, and I write with my Montblanc fountain pen, which has burgundy, rose-scented ink."--Dita Von Teese

"I wear opera-length leather gloves with just about everything--I love fetishistic elegance."--Dita Von Teese

"It's perfectly acceptable to touch up your makeup at the dinner table if you have a gorgeous powder compact.  This one is from the forties and different fashions of the era pictured on it.  It's quite a large compact--the size of the puff always gets comments!"--Dita Von Teese

"I always have at least three red lipsticks in my handbag--usually a bright red, a cherry red, and a deep ruby red.  This is one of my favorites, Dior Roulette Red."--Dita Von Teese

Cowboy Boots

I've always loved cowboy boots. Maybe it's the romantic idea that I am living in the Wild, Wild West and will find my own cowboy if I wear them? Maybe it's that they look great with everything from skirts to jeans? Maybe it's that they are edgy and a little rebellious? Whatever the reason, I am a sucker for a pair of well-designed boots, the pointier toe, the better. Justin Boots have always been one of my favorite brands. I found some pictures through their website that were amazing. They are vintage pics that show the factory, the process of hand-sewing the boots, and all the craftsmanship that goes into a pair of boots.

I also stumbled across some fabulous photos of women who really know how to show off their boots! I've been in bed for 3 days with this awful sore throat thing, and am hoping for a full recovery by tomorrow. I promise to get back on my regular blogging schedule then. Have a great day friends!

Rachel McAdams

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. 5 More days until Christmas Eve! Can you believe it? Wow, this year flew by. I've mentioned in a few other posts that I am extremely behind on my magazines and have a huge stack sitting here staring at me. I finally started to tackle them yesterday and was completely blown away by the gorgeous images of Rachel McAdams in the November issue of In Style.

If you saw the issue, humor me. I love the vintage feel to the shots. She looks a little like a trashy Betty Draper from Mad Men to me, and I mean that in the chicest way possible (maybe it's the dark roots)? What do you think? Any fun plans this week? Share, share, share!

To Wear Red or Not?

Red lipstick is something I've never been comfortable with. I just can't seem to get used to myself in it. Maybe its the pop of color on my lips, or the constant reapplying, the possible error and feathering? I'm dying to wear red this season, so I've incorporated some red-based shades into my daily routine. It kills me to be uncomfortable with the 1940's style red, that so many of you vintage-loving vixens wear all the time. What's your secret? Any ideas for me on how I can wear it? Any of your favorite shades? In the meantime, here are some photos from In Style Magazine that show their picks for the best reds of the year. Have a great day friends!
