Going For A Run

Some of you might have noticed my updates on Facebook or Twitter about my workouts.  I have been working out for about a month now and am trying to get into running.  It's tough...I'll admit, I don't know how you all do it, run 5 miles at a time like nothing.  Before I began working out with my trainer, my philosophy on running could pretty much be summed up here:

LOL

Now, I've changed my mind a bit and actually strive to get to the point where I can run 2 miles without stopping.  I'd love any suggestions you have.  I'd also love to hear about your motivation and if you were ever in the spot I am...the beginning.

What's really helping me is the app on Apple called Nike+GPS...it's great!!!

You should definitely try it, if you don't have it on your phone already!  Have a great day friends and don't forget to check back tonight for Fashion Friday and the linkup!

The Color Run

It's Saturday!  Yay!  Love the long weekends.  I'm heading out for a hike with my friend Kelley of A Flame of Fashion.  You should check her out if you get a chance...she's new to the blogging community.  Since I've started working out with my amazing trainer (LaMonte you are the best), I find myself looking for more active things to do.  Kelley told me about this 5k called The Color Run.  It looks like so much fun...you get dry paint thrown on you at every marker...what a blast.  Check out the photos.

So, what do you think?  It looks like a blast right?  If you're interested, The Color Run takes place in a variety of cities.  Check out their website for all the fun and join the party!  I'm signing up for the April date in So. Cal so photos to come!

Being Sore Is A Good Thing?

So I'm starting to branch out a bit and thought I would share some things going on in my life this week...here goes:

I'm on week 2 of my training program and have learned that I hate working out and would not do it unless I had someone to report to (my trainer).  Yep, I'd pretty much rather starve myself than get on the treadmill lol.  I do love hiking and power walking though, so that's a step.  I've been so sore for a week, and I'm told most people kill for that feeling, but I kind of like getting out of bed in the morning without crying ;-).  Maybe it's just me?  I don't know, but I like being able to get in and out of the car without wincing in pain.

In the meantime, I have developed a love for Mrs. Dash.  Yes, the seasoning.  I put so much of it all over my chicken and fish that it makes a crunchy coating and I feel like I'm eating something bad...how sad is this?

The good news is the weekend is on it's way and I can cheat on Saturday...Hallelujah!  Any tips or recipes you'd like to share with me?  I'd welcome any advice!  Thanks friends for allowing me to vent.  Have a great night.

My Road To Fitness

Good morning.  I apologize I have been a little MIA on Twitter and responding to blog posts this week.  I rarely share anything personal on my blog, but have to tell you I am having a tough time this week.  I have decided to get into shape and start on a healthy diet plan.  The diet is simple, no biggie, I've done this before.  I will stick to it and I know I will have success.  The problem?  The workout.

I started with a personal trainer this week, and have to tell you I am so frustrated and upset with myself.  How on earth have I allowed myself to go my entire life without working out?  I have absolutely no muscle tone and at 35 years of age am at step 1.  I didn't play sports in high school, and didn't think you had to be in shape, just thin.  I was so wrong.  Now, I'm suffering the pain because of it.

I know it will get better and easier, but just wanted to say thank you to all my blogger and Twitter friends.  You all are so supportive and I have to tell you you motivate me more than you know.  I will keep you posted on my progress, and thanks for letting me vent a bit.

Don't forget to get your Fashion Friday posts ready for later this evening.  Have a great Thursday friends!

Want A Good Workout?

So, one of the things that help me stay motivated to get my butt up and move is a good playlist.  I'm always looking for recommendations to add to my iPod so I don't get bored.  If you have any great ideas, please pass them along.  What makes you move and shake?  Here are the ones I love right now.

1.  Country Girl by Luke Bryan
2.  Long Hot Summer by Keith Urban
3.  Love is Found by Sade
4.  Green Light by John Legend
5.  Drink In My Hand by Eric Church
6.  I'm Not Over by Carolina Liar
7.  Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People
8.  Tik Tok by K$sha
9.  Moves Like Jagger by Maroon 5
10.  Supermassive Black Hole by Muse

Are You Ready?

To work out I mean?  I'm ready.  I hate to work out, but don't mind power walking, hiking, and just being outdoors, which is easy here in Southern California.  I tried to watch it over Christmas, so I didn't gain any weight, but am ready to get in shape and lose a few pounds anyway.

What are your workout or diet tips?  I'd love to hear what you all do to stay fabulous!  In the meantime, here's some visual inspiration!  Have a fantastic day and enjoy the Rose Parade!

Bearer of Bad News

Hey there friends!  So, we're three days away and I can't wait for my mama's famous homemade dressing.  Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but I always stress because I try not to overeat.  So, enjoy your pumpkin pie, your mashed potatoes, and everything else you desire, but don't forget to get back on track before Christmas comes around for that little black dress!  Don't hate me, I'm only trying to help you and me!

Much Needed Motivation For My 1st Day Back

Good morning friends.  I am back at work this morning after being off since June 10.  It was such a fantastic summer.  I traveled, read, wrote, hung out with my family and friends, shopped, worked out, and so much more.  I truly live for my summers.  I also love fall though and am really excited to be back.  With going back to school, though, I promised myself I would get back on track and head back to Weight Watchers.

I love Weight Watchers, but hope I can stay motivated this time.  Do you have any secrets for eating right or working out?  I found some amazing motivation on Pinterest, and thought I'd share with you all for a new week.  Have a wonderful day friends!!!  Wish me luck today!!!

Wordless Wednesday Workout Fiend & New Blog

Ok, so first off, you probably noticed my blog looks a little different. I had a blog makeover and need to thank the wonderfully talented Stephanie of Dirt and Lace for all her hard work.  She also created my author blog look at Kori Donahue.  It was so much fun to work with her and change things up a bit.  I'm thrilled with how it turned out.  What do you think?

Moving right along, today is Wordless (Semi) Wednesday, and I know I'm talking quite a bit, but I'm linking up with the fabulous Daphne of Flip Flops and Pearls.  Head over and join us!

Since I'm on kind of a new workout kick (loving it!) I decided for today's post to include some images that would hopefully inspire me and others to get healthy and moving.  Do you workout?  What are your secrets?  Any workouts you hate?  Have a great day friends!
