Glamping

If you're a fan of Project Runway and watched last night's episode, you saw the group go glamping, or glamour camping.  It's the new thing.  Why rough it when you can do it in style?  Camping that is...any man who wants to win the key to my heart, take me glamping.  Doesn't this look like so much fun?!

Dress It Up

August is here!  We've had such a mild summer here in southern CA and I'm hoping for more of this gorgeous weather.  I'm always looking for a cute little dress to wear to church, dinner, or even a day at the museum.  It's hard to find dresses that are both flattering and inexpensive, so I was thrilled when I found Simons.  They have a dress page that has some of the flirty, fun dresses we all love.  Here are a few of my favorites...but of course, I'm loving the chevron print.  Have a great day!

Street Style--Copenhagen Fashion Week

Copenhagen shows us whats new and fabulous for Spring 2014 with shots from Diego Zuko for Harper's Bazaar.  I noticed a lot of these beauties wear flats or even tennis shoes.  Not a lot of stilettos or boots.  Although I like the cute, casual look of the Chucks with a skirt, I'm thinking it might be a bit more chic with a sky-high pair of heels?  What do you think?  Which look is your favorite?  Have a wonderful Monday all!

Summer's Last Fresh Breath

It's Friday, so I thought it only fitting to share a little bit of fashion.  Being a teacher, we try to get as much longevity out of our summer as possible.  I fight to the death until that last day I have to finally be in my classroom to get ready for the coming year.  Does that mean I don't love my job?  No, not at all...there is a part of me that looks forward to back to school and a fresh start, but, the reality is, I love summer.  So, that being said, I have a few more mini vacations coming up, and of course will need to get in my last pool time while I can.

The summer allows us to be much more casual, take in each breath, and really enjoy our surroundings.  Fashion Associate Kelly Connor proves she knows how to relax with her recent trip to Shelter Island, New York.  Vogue shows us her five days off with five different laid-back looks.  Which one is your favorite?  Have a great Friday all!!!

DAY 1

(Loving this entire look.  Kelly is wearing her mom's Plein Sud polka-dot dress that she bought at Maxfield's in the nineties.  She finishes off the look with adorable McQueen sandals, and fabulous Rag and Bone Sunglasses)

DAY 2

(The look here is casual, yet pretty.  Kelly is wearing a La Perla camisole, that is actually part of a pair of pajamas! and vintage Levis.  The look is finished with a pair of Der Dau riding boots)

DAY 3

(Day 3 we get to see Kelly in an Elder Statesman cashmere t-shirt with Missoni pants.  Love that she completed the look with a good ol' pair of Birks)

DAY 4

(This was my favorite look of the five, simply because of the natural details and the photos are gorgeous.  Kelly is wearing a Citizens of Humanity denim skirt, with a Rag and Bone fisherman's sweater tied around her waist.  What I love though is that little crocheted crop top.  Kelly purchased it in Tokyo after being inspired by Gwen Stefani.  The sandals are Miu Miu)

DAY 5

(On the last day, Kelly wears a mustard and navy Suno sweater with a white, Jo de Mer bikini bottom)

A Dress For Every Occasion

A Dress for Every Occasion

Knowing what type of dress to choose for different occasions can be a bit of a minefield, and a lot of the time many women find themselves reaching for trousers and a top to play it safe. There are so many styles of dress available that you never need be short of something to wear, you just need to know how to wear them and when. Every woman can look fabulous in a dress no matter her shape or size, and with great value figure flattering dresses from ASDA George your new look needn’t cost the earth.

There are many fantastic prints in fashion this summer and no matter what style of dress you opt for, you will find loads of colorful variations to choose from. Find the shape and design that suits your own taste, style and of course your figure.

Maxi
Maxi dresses are fantastic for the hot summer days and evenings alike. They are cool during the day but warm enough to wear outside in the balmy summer nights. Maxi dresses can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. For a wedding add accessories to make it dressier and wear with heels or pretty flats. To wear to a BBQ or out shopping, team your maxi with flats and simple accessories for a classic summery look. This type of dress best suits those with a boyish frame and can help make you look taller. Different cuts of maxi are available to suit those with larger busts, hips or both and it is a dress that is highly adaptable.

Wrap-around
The wrap-around is an old favorite that never goes out of style. This is a fabulous look for those lucky enough to have an hourglass figure, as it accentuates all the right curves and hides any sins with the gathered fabric in the middle. Wrap-around dresses come in different lengths depending on your preference, with longer skirts more suited to work wear and shorter for summer parties and drinks. You can choose to have a sleeved or sleeveless variation of this style depending on whether you want to cover up or show off some sun-kissed skin. George at ASDA has some great value wrap dresses that can be adapted for any event or season.

Mini
First made famous in the sixties, the mini dress is very much here to stay. Show off your bronzed gams to their full extent by pairing a mini with heels, or dress down and keep cool in flats. Wear the shortest minis to the beach and save the down to the knee dresses for cocktails or dining out. If you have the confidence you can wear a mini dress regardless of age, shape or size as these classic dresses are available in figure-hugging or looser fits, it’s all about how you carry yourself in it. Walk tall and you’ll look fabulous.

Dresses are a great way to look glam wherever you are, and whatever you’re doing. Whether a black-tie event or a day by the sea, put the trousers and shorts away and get in touch with your feminine side in a dress.

Mr. Blasberg's Best Dressed

(Daisy Lowe in Dolce & Gabbana)

We're having such a mild July here in CA I'm beginning to wonder when the extreme heat will set it.  Maybe we'll get lucky this year?  With the heat, come the rompers, sundresses, and adorable accessories.  I don't usually agree with Mr. Blasberg, but this week his picks are right on.  Take a look at a few of my favorites from Harper's Bazaar.

(My favorite look of the week...stunning Lily Collins in Paper London crop top and skirt, and Brian Atwood pumps)

(Karlie Kloss in Reformation)

(Rachel Bilson in Oscar de la Renta)

The Toes Know

People are either repulsed by or like the look of toes and feet.  I'm a person who likes feet.  Who doesn't want a nice pedicure, or to have soft feet?  I have tattoos on my feet, but I also have toe rings.  My mom has always had toe rings since I was a kid.  Pretty much all the women in my family have one or more, and we don't take them off during the winter.  It's a year round addiction lol.  I always buy 14k gold so they don't tarnish or fade.  There are so many cute designs out there to choose from, even if you only wear them for the summer.  I think it's well worth it to invest in a sterling silver or 14k gold version, but there are several to choose from.  Mix and match them and have some fun.  Want some of your own?  Head over to Fresh Trends and load up! Here's a photo of my current selection:

Cool Silver

Happy Monday all!  Hope you had a great holiday weekend.  I'm loving the gorgeous weather we're having here in CA.  This week brings more summer activities.  For those of you trying to stay (and look) cool, why not try some silver metallic eye shadow to pop your tan?  How to do it?  Just start with a light metallic base all over the bottom of the lid, then choose a neutral for the brow bone, and finally, a darker shade with black base for the crease, and voila!  You're done!
