The Brown Derby was a restaurant visited by all of Hollywood's elite. There are many photos of stars eating in the famed booths, under the caricature pictures of themselves. Executives and stars dined here regularly. The Derby in Hollywood was one of four and the second to be built.
"On Valentine's Day, 1929, The Hollywood Brown Derby opened in a building specially designed for Cecil B. DeMille near the corner of Hollywood and Vine. It soon attracted a sizeable following from the city's burgeoning movie industry. Stars received fan mail addressed simply to: The Brown Derby Hollywood and Vine."
The Derby was remodeled for a new generation in the 1960's, closed in 1985, burned in 1988, and demolished in 1994. It's too bad it's no longer there for all to see.
