Snow White and the Huntsman

As you probably know, Mirror, Mirror with Julia Roberts and Lily Collins came out Friday and is the more comical story of Snow White.  (See my previous post here for photos).  I can't wait to see it, but I have to admit, I'm much more excited for the darker version of the story, Snow White and the Huntsman.  This one stars Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman.  As I said in my previous post I've always been fascinated by the Evil Queen and can't wait to see Charlize and her portrayal of her.

Look at that fabulous costume!  Here's some trivia about the film:

--Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder were considered to play Ravenna, the Evil Queen.

--Charlize dropped out from J.Edgar to play this role.

--Johnny Depp, Tom Hardy, and Michael Fassbender were considered to play Eric, the Huntsman.

--Dakota Fanning, Selena Gomez, Saoirse Ronan, Riley Keough, Alicia Vikander, Bella Heathcote, Emily Browning, Lily Collins, and Felicity Jones were all considered for the role of Snow White.

Check out the trailer:

What do you think?  Will you go see it?  The film is scheduled to be in theaters June 1.

Mirror, Mirror

I'm a huge Snow White fan, or more specifically Evil Queen fan, so I was thrilled to find out there are not one, but two versions of the story coming out on film this year.  The first one is a little more lighthearted and comedic, not as dark.  This one is called "Mirror, Mirror" and stars Julia Roberts, and Phil Collins' daughter, Lily Collins.  W Magazine featured photos from the set this month, so I had to share.  Look at the fabulous costumes!  What do you think?  Will you go see the film?

Evil Queen Still Reigns

In honor of my trip to Disneyland today, I thought I would post about my favorite all time character, the Evil Queen from Snow White.  It seems I'm not the only one who loves this villain, as there are products all over the Internet featuring her.  There are talks of two different Snow White films on the horizon, one featuring Julia Roberts (not so much) as the Evil Queen, and another with Angelina Jolie (much better) as the beautiful villain.

I have been obsessed with her majesty since I was a little girl.  I would see her up in the window above the ride and cry my head off.  Is it her misunderstood beauty? Her bad side? Who knows?

I found some fabulous pieces of art featuring the Queen herself.  Enjoy!

Snow White

Many of you know that I adore Snow White. I collect anything with her image on it, especially anything vintage or retro looking. I even have one of the songs from the film on my playlist! Every time I visit Disneyland I make sure to head over to the Snow White wishing well to make my wish. My fascination with Snow White started as a young girl. My mom said I would stand outside the ride, look up and see the Evil Queen, and start crying hysterically. I often have more interest in the Evil Queen than Snow White herself. How could I not? She is so gorgeous!

You might not know the story of the voice for Snow White. The film came out in 1937, making it Disney's first full length feature. There were many actresses who auditioned for the role of Snow White, but none had the childlike quality that Walt was looking for.

Adriana Caselotti had been an opera singer. Her father worked for many people in the industry. Someone from Disney called to ask him if he knew of anyone who had a childlike voice who could sing. His daughter Adriana was listening in the extension and started speaking like a child. She got the audition and the rest is history! Check out these images of Adriana and the classic animated Snow White. Have a fantastic Friday!
