I Tried To Hate Her But...

I have to admit I was not a big Katy Perry fan.  I hated her song, "I Kissed a Girl," and didn't like the fact that I thought she "sold out" when dropping some of her Christian values to sing the song.  Hate is a strong word.  I don't hate anyone, that would require just too much energy lol.  I really tried to dislike Katy and her obnoxious costumes, but I just couldn't do it.  I like her music, she's gorgeous, and after reading her first cover piece in this month's issue of Vogue, she's not only mature, but likable.  Oftentimes when celebs are interviewed, they find the need to appear "edgy" and "rebellious."  The article reads more like something a sailor might say, full of obscenities and sexual banter.  There was none of that with Katy.  She was candid, real, and I have to say I related to her a bit in regards to her love life.  Check out the article for yourself and let me know what you think.  In the meantime look at these gorgeous photos by Annie Leibovitz.

I have always been on the fence with her. I'll admit to liking her songs. They're very catchy. I don't think she sounds good live though. Something about her is very annoying to me though. And I can't help it, but I love Russell Brand.

She looks a bit like a brunette Kate Winslet.

I tried to hate her, too...(She's just too pretty!)...but I can't :). She seems really nice and down to earth.

A girl kissing a girl is "selling out" on Christian values? I'm glad the Christianity I was raised with is more open and forgiving than your version.

I love these photos, they did a great job at capturing a different side of her.

It cracks me up when I get negative feedback for something that is completely my stance and opinion. I never understood that. If I disagree with someone, I don't feel the need to insult or prove them wrong. I'm completely allowed to voice my opinion (it is my blog lol). Weird, this is the first post in 4 years that I've received negative feedback from so I guess I should be flattered? Thanks for visiting Melissa, I've never seen you here before. Have a blessed day!!! Kori xoxo

I read the Vogue article. I never really had an opinion of her...well maybe that she was a little kooky and tried a bit too hard to get attention through her blue hair and Betty Boop dresses. This interview is fantastic, a little peek into her soul. She sounds vulnerable when so many celebrities come off so together and owning their world. And the pictures, she looks like an English rose! Beautiful
