I finished The Help today and it was one of the best books I've read in a long time. I hope the film does the book justice. It's hard to believe that times were so different and it was just 50 years ago. I can't wait to see it, the film comes out August 10. Did you read the book? Will you see the film?
Nothing says Summer like the movie, Shag. I loved this film. It was truly a guilty pleasure for a teenage girl in the midst of summer fantasies. So, when I saw that Vogue Magazine did a feature on the film, I was thrilled!
Shag was definitely a cult classic. In 1989 I was 13 so it was a film I could really relate to. You had four friends who took off in for a last hurrah in the 1960's. There were good girls, bad girls, dancing, boys, and of course summer fashion.
I always related to Pudge the most, but wanted secretly to be Malaina. Who did you like in the film? If you haven't seen it, RENT IT IMMEDIATELY!

I was watching TCM this morning and came across the 1959 film Gidget starring Sandra Dee. It's the perfect film for summer. It has surfers, cute girls, beaches, and of course the adorable boys. The fashion and the music was so much fun. It was just a simpler time.
Growing up, I loved to watch the t.v. show Gidget with Sally Field. It was of course based on the film and took place in the 1960s. Sally field was the cutest. I wanted to be just like her. Take a look at the photos of the film and show.
So, did you like the movie or the show? If you've never seen either one, you have to check them out! You won't be sorry!
So you've probably heard that singer Amy Winehouse died today. The autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, but in the meantime, I've always thought it odd that so many famous singers died at the age of 27. All were due to drug overdoses, but it's still just a little eerie. Do you believe there is some type of coincidence that they all died at that age? Such a tragic loss to see yet another young talent gone too soon.
It's been a while since I've had some men on the blog...lol. I saw Luke Bryan in concert back in May and can't get his new song out of my head. I love it and it makes me want to dance. Not only is it a great song, but he's not bad looking either. But sorry, ladies, he's married. Check out the video and some photos of the gorgeous Mr. Bryan. Have a great day!!! And, Shake it For Me!

My Inspiration
Behind the Inspiration
Many of you might not know I began this blog after being so inspired by Marilyn Monroe and all she was. I'm in love with old Hollywood and Marilyn embodies everything about it that I am inspired by. Who better to inspire me? Over the years, the blog has become less about Marilyn and more about me, my love of fashion, and appreciation for life, however I won't forget the inspiration that started it all, thus the name, "Blonde Episodes."
